The European project RESTORE SEAS (Marine Animal Forests, plants and algae: nature-based tools to protect and restore biodiversity) in Gran Canaria (Spain) opens 2 job offers to join the team working in Gran Canaria (Spain) at the ECOAQUA Institute of the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
The positions will be open until December 21, 2023, including incorporation around January 16, 2024, until approximately April 2025 (end of the project). The two profiles desired are for a graduate in Marine Sciences or a related field who has completed Master’s studies (PACP1), and a post-doctoral researcher (ICP1):
Main tasks for PACP1:
- Literature review on “Restoration and degradation of seagrass and brown algae meadows.” Samplings in brown algae and seagrass forests. Implementation and maintenance of a Pilot Program for the recruitment of macroalgae.
Main tasks for ICP1:
- Sampling tasks in brown algae forests, seagrass meadows, and deep-sea corals.
- Analysis of biological parameters, both for morphological identification and molecular identification of the sampled organisms.
- Experiments related to the consequences of flow, population density, and sex ratio on coral spawning and fertilization, and implications for recruitment.
- Experiments related to the translocation of deep-sea marine species.
- Data analysis and writing of scientific publications.
