Call for early Expressions of Interest – Postdoctoral Fellowships in ocean sciences 2024

The Institut de Ciències del Mar (ICM), the largest center for multidisciplinary marine science in Spain, with a leading role in Southern Europe and the Mediterranean region, is committed to attracting young international talent, promising new researchers who will lead our research in the future.

We are offering an ICM support programme conceived to provide individual assistance to international researchers pursuing MSCA or Junior Leader Incoming Postdoctoral Fellowships supervised by ICM researchers, which includes:

  • 2-day training package (8-9 April 2024) on “How to write successful MSCA and Junior Leader Incoming Postdoctoral proposals”
  • Networking and collaboration opportunities with ICM research groups.
  • Continuous guidance and feedback for technical & scientific aspects, helping researchers to prepare a competitive proposal.
  • 1-week INVITED VISITS to ICM for the 5 highest-quality Expressions of Interests received to fully enjoy this tailored support services in person and participate in the 2024 UN Ocean Decade Conference (10-12 April 2024, Barcelona).

How to apply?

Candidates may apply* and send their expressions of interest by email to 
talent-osr@icm.csic.es with the following information: a full CV accompanied by a motivation statement detailing your relevant experience, interest for carrying out research on marine sciences in one of the ICM research groups** and the name of an ICM researcher that will be the initial scientific ambassador for the candidate, the chosen fellowship programme (MSCA/Junior Leader Incoming), your eligibility and two reference names. The subject of the email should follow this format: “ICM Call 4 EoIs Postdocs – NAME FELLOW”.

* The eligibility requirements can be checked for MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowships 2024 or Postdoctoral Junior Leader fellowship Incoming Call 2024.

** Candidates are invited to contact potential supervisors/collaborators depending on the fellowship from the ICM research groups

Each candidate’s documentation will be revised and, on the basis of the completeness and adequacy of the requested information and quick eligibility check, be scored based on: (1) academic profile; (2) personal motivation; (3) scientific skills and relevant experience. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted to arrange a videoconference interview with the relevant project supervisor(s).
