Marine Benthic Calcifiers and Their Contribution to the Oceanic Carbon Cycle
September 23 to 25, 2025
We are excited to announce an upcoming online workshop organized by the COST network MAF WORLD (https://maf-world.eu/), dedicated to exploring the role of marine benthic calcifiers in the oceanic carbon cycle.
Through dedicated sessions covering coastal biogeochemistry, coral reefs, bivalve reefs, and coralline algal beds, this interdisciplinary workshop will bring together researchers to explore key topics including:
- The role of marine calcifiers and their habitats in carbon sequestration and fluxes
- Biogeochemical and ecological processes driving carbon dynamics in coastal and reef ecosystems
- Impacts of environmental change on calcification and carbon storage potential
- Applications of blue carbon concepts for restoration and ecosystem management
Registration Deadline: September 21, 2025.
You will receive the link for the online workshop on September 22.
We encourage all researchers interested in marine biogeochemistry, ecology, and climate science to save the date and join this interdisciplinary discussion.
